What time should I be there?
Please be 30 minutes before the start time of the program.

What should I wear? Do I need protective clothing?
Hawk Walk: Please dress in layers. Something on your arms will keep you comfortable, and you can take off layers as the day warms up. You do not need protective clothing. The raptors want to sit on the heavy leather glove we will provide. We ask, and this is important, that students taking the Hawk Walk to wear ankle protecting foot gear…hiking boots or hiking sneakers. A slip on an acorn can cause an ankle to twist and ruin your day. For the other classes, you will be on lawn. Wear foot gear that does not require you to watch your steps. We want you watching the HAWK! Sneakers work great for those classes.
Other Classes: Just dress that you are comfortable. No need to have hiking boots.

What if rain is predicted for my chosen class date?
We watch several apps for the forecast. If it is obvious that your day will be rained out, I will contact you the day before (please make sure when you register that the phone number is correct) to reschedule you. Weather prediction is not always right!!! But you will not lose your investment in the class. We can reschedule you on a different date.

What if I have to cancel?
We have no problem with re-booking you to another date as long as you give me notice. There will be an added $50 re-booking charge to reschedule. If there are no dates available, we can schedule a one-on-one program.

When do gift certificates expire?
The expiration date of ONE year from the date of issue marked on the certificate.

Can my pet come with me to class?
PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY PETS!!!!!

Will a bird or animal lose its life in the hunt, will I get hurt from the birds?
Hunts are conducted in various locations based on game availability. There are some hunting rules and if you have signed up for the hunt, you will be advised of these at the time of the hunt. And, yes, if the raptor takes game… this will be small game such as cottontail rabbits and gray squirrel…the prey will give up its life. This is a normal and expected part of hunting, and, certainly, is exactly what happens when a wild raptor takes prey. We are never sure if game will be taken. Sometimes we have great chases to follow, but the prey eludes the hawk. This is all part of participating in a falconry hunt.

These are wild animals, and you can get a cut from their talons (they are very sharp!!). This is part of working with these amazing animals. THERE IS NO TOUCHING THE HAWKS!!!

NOTE ON DURATIONS OF EVENTS: The times for the hunting events my vary, depends on the weather and what happens on the hunt. If the hunt is cut short, there will be other activities. The same goes with the other activities, the workshops tend to go over the time.

THERE IS NO SMOKING ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE PREMISES.

Disturbing class - or making things dangerous for our raptors or other students - you will be asked to leave the premises immediately with no refund!!
